Frequently Asked Questions

What is Realign Physiotherapy?

Realign is a Newtown physiotherapy clinic specialising in dry needling, Neurological rehabilitation, clinical Pilates and Sports physiotherapy

What is dry needling and how does it help?

Dry needling is a targeted technique where fine needles are inserted into muscle trigger points to reduce tension, ease pain, and stimulate recovery. It supports muscle release, improves mobility, and complements hands-on therapy.

What is “clinical Pilates” in a physio context?

Clinical Pilates is adapted Pilates movement under the supervision of a physiotherapist. It focuses on core control, posture, alignment, and strength in ways relevant to rehab, injury prevention, and long-term musculoskeletal health.

Do you accept private health insurance rebates?

Yes. We work with most private health funds — you may be able to claim a rebate directly (via HICAPS if your fund is accepted).

Can neurological physiotherapy improve balance and walking?

Absolutely. Improving gait, posture, and balance is a core part of neurological rehabilitation. Through targeted exercises and proprioceptive retraining, we help clients regain stability, coordination, and confidence in movement — both indoors and outdoors.

What kinds of conditions do you treat?

Some common issues we address include muscle tightness, back and neck pain, balance deficits (especially neurological), sports injuries, post-injury rehabilitation, movement dysfunction, and chronic musculoskeletal complaints.

Will I get a home exercise program?

Yes — we always provide tailored home exercises to complement in-clinic treatment and reinforce long-term improvements.

Do you specialise in treating CrossFit or Olympic weightlifting athletes?

Yes. At Realign, we specialise in injury prevention, rehabilitation, and performance optimisation for CrossFit and Olympic weightlifting athletes. We understand the unique demands of barbell training, from shoulder and hip mobility to load progression and recovery. Our goal is to keep you training safely while helping you lift stronger and move better.

What is neurological rehabilitation?

Neurological rehabilitation is a specialised form of physiotherapy designed to help people recover movement, strength, balance, and coordination after damage to the nervous system — such as a stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury, or conditions like Parkinson’s disease or multiple sclerosis. At Realign, we use evidence-based neuro-rehab techniques to help your brain and body “relearn” movement patterns and restore independence.
